My mum Jai casting bells in Dunedin
A memorial to my mother Jai Hall, this bell is identical to the 16 bronze bells I helped her cast that are in 16 different locations around New Zealand honouring the war efforts of the Land Girls - read more about the project here
This bell hangs from a waratah in Hamilton’s Cemetery overlooking the Maniototo plain in Central Otago where Jai spent time as a farmer and award-winning photographer
I also wove the leather lanyards for the bell’s clappers out of leather from the belly of a kangaroo
