I played a part in this
I’ve put together another compilation of New Zealand bands doing Christmas songs, the third in the trilogy. Free to stream and download
I’ve started The Waltham Home Organ Society with Ben Dodd & His Organ playing covers of New Zealand songs.
Here’s me playing Point That Thing somewhere else by Dunedin band The Clean on a 1920′s ship’s organ
A salt dough octopus I made for my friend Tony Renouf based on the octopi that appear in his comics and paintings. Check out his stuff at: https://boredinarecordshop.wordpress.com or http://boredtootone2.tumblr.com/
I was a guest on JB Revivalist’s Rotten Radio show “Volcanic Island Discs”
Members of The Clean, The Dead C and The Terminals were playing a gig upstairs so throughout the show we crossed live to their performances!
These are the songs I picked to take to a volcanic island
Raft - Pumice
Market - Eola
Love Comes Slowly Now - Garbage and the Flowers
Alvin Row - Animal Collective
Last But Not Least - Fall of Efrafa
Akuma No Kuma - Sunn O)))/Boris
Tally Ho - The Clean
Ella Speed - Mance Lipscomb
Never - Micachu and the Shapes ft. Wesley Gonzalez
It’s Only Tragic - The Communist Rainbow Relationship
Bubblegum - P.H.F
Save The Babes - The Old Psychiatrists Club
And the album to take:
Ten - cLOUDDEAD
Just uploaded The Odditties Show - Sewage (Live To Air) to Mixcloud. Listen now!
Logo for Dunedin low-powered FM radio station “Wouff Hong Radio”
The crossed instruments in the image are the Wouff Hong and Rettysnitch
Invented by “The Old Man”, early ham radio pioneer and founder of the Amateur Radio Relay League, the Wouff Hong is for enforcing law and order in Amateur Radio, the Rettysnitch for endorsing decency
I had the mastermind behind Dunedin cassette label “Hail Satan Tapes” on my show playing selections from their new monthly mixtapes and a good collection of Kiwi crust, noise and other assorted aural goodness on cassette.
Other highlights also include mashups between a scene in 90′s sitcom Full House with Electric Wizard’s Legalize Drugs and Murder, Harlan Ellison reading one of his short stories with some mournful music by Friedrich Nietzsche and the mythology of Watership Down with the neo-crust of Fall of Efrafa
My mate Icky and I made some noise tracks using an EFFECTOR XV-A33F. It will be released as a 7-inch record on Heavy Space Records
Some drawings I added to an envelope I sent one of my penpals.
If you want to be my penpal send me something at:
PO Box 6533, Dunedin North, Dunedin, New Zealand 9059
and I’ll send you something back!
